Merlefest Camping (Part III)

Camping for Merlefest is always so much fun, but this year was better because we have Rowan. I was a little apprehensive about camping with him, but he did great, slept in the tent with Clarence and me and, I swear, he slept better in the tent than he does at home. So Rowan's first camping trip was a success!

We always enjoy camping at the Wilksboro Fire Dept campground at the Wastewater Treatment plant (playfully called Sewerfest). I promise it is nothing like the Oxford Wastewater Treatment plant. Anyway, it's always an experience. The greatest thing is the music that goes on all through the night. I wish I could expain the feeling of going to sleep with the music all around us, people at their various campfires playing their fiddles, guitars, banjos, etc and singing softly. It's heaven. I also wish I had taken some pictures of this. Up the hill there's a warehouse-looking shed where everybody goes to "jam" (a lot of them locals). The campground itself is one of the single coolest experiences if you are a music lover.

These guys are jokers

Rowan loved taking a bath in the sink of Grammy and Grandaddy's RV.
